Location: BriteLites Acting Studio
BriteLites Acting Studio is located in the Crestview area of North Central Austin, an old fashioned neighborhood of 1940-50 houses that make you feel right at home. The heart of the neighborhood is the 1950's Crestview Shopping Center complete with mom-and-pop babershop, beauty salon, pharmacy, deli, and Minimax Grocery Store. It is often touted as a desirable shooting location by the Texas Film Commission. NBC's "Friday Night Lights" and many other films and commercials have been shot at this neighborhood mainstay.
The center has beautiful old trees and picnic tables in the common area. BriteLites students often sit outside rehearsing scenes and enjoying dinner purchased from the Little Deli two doors down from the studio.
The Crestview Center is also the home of the famous Wall of Welcome, a community mosaic five years in the making, inspired by the vision of local artist Jean Graham. Using photographs from longtime residents, the open fields in the mosaic reflect how the neighborhood first looked in the 1950's.
In addition, the Austin Metro Crestview Station is located at 6920 N. Lamar Blvd west of Lamar between Justin St. and St. John's Ave. and serves the nearby neighborhoods and businesses. The station is adjacent to Midtown Commons, a transit oriented mixed-use development.
